(Un)Mapping the Punjab Triple Canal System explores how spatial knowledge was produced and disseminated regarding the Punjab Canal Colonies within the British Raj. Through the use of archival research, digital mapping (GIS) and collaborative drawing our project challenges the official literature pertaining to the Punjab Triple Canal System (PTCS). We take John Benton’s — the project engineer — 1906 map of the Punjab and his 1915 essay as core texts to critique how and why the canal colonies were constructed.
